| Points | Worth on hotel stays | In short |
|---|---|---|
| 500 | $3.50–$4.50 | A leftover balance — far short of any award night, but worth keeping alive. |
| 1,000 | $7–$9 | Too small to redeem, easy to protect — and worth nearly twice as much on a stay as in gift cards. |
| 3,000 | $21–$27 | The most-searched small balance: not a night, but a useful top-off. |
| 5,000 | $35–$45 | A third of the way to a budget night — useful for topping off a certificate. |
| 10,000 | $70–$90 | Two-thirds of a budget night — or enough to turn a 35K certificate into a full-service night. |
| 16,000 | $112–$144 | Just enough for one select-service night on a low-priced date. |
| 17,500 | $122.50–$157.50 | One select-service night on most lower-priced dates — the old Category 3 standard price. |
| 20,000 | $140–$180 | One select-service night on most dates, or a strong certificate top-off. |
| 25,000 | $175–$225 | Exactly the maximum certificate top-off — or one select-service night on almost any date. |
| 30,000 | $210–$270 | One full-service night at the low end, or two budget nights. |
| 40,000 | $280–$360 | A full-service night on most mid-priced dates, or two select-service nights. |
| 50,000 | $350–$450 | One full-service night on almost any date, or two to three budget nights. |
| 60,000 | $420–$540 | Five select-service nights for the price of four — or the first airline transfer bonus. |
| 75,000 | $525–$675 | A long weekend at a full-service hotel, a week at a budget one, or one luxury night. |
| 100,000 | $700–$900 | A full week at a budget hotel, a few full-service nights, or one luxury night on most dates. |
| 136,000 | $952–$1,224 | Exactly five full-service nights at 34,000 points — fifth night free. |

Frequently asked questions
How do I find out what my Marriott points are worth?
Multiply your balance by 0.7 to 0.9 cents, the typical value of a Marriott Bonvoy point on hotel stays in 2026. For example, 50,000 points are worth about $350 to $450. Our Marriott Points Value Calculator does this for any balance and compares hotel stays, the fifth-night-free benefit, gift cards and airline transfers.
Do Marriott points expire?
Marriott Bonvoy points expire after 24 months with no account activity. Any qualifying activity, such as a stay or a purchase on a Marriott co-branded card that earns points, resets the clock.
